How to use this tool

  1. Save your Word document as a DOCX file.
  2. Upload the DOCX and start extracting embedded images.
  3. Review the images and download your selection.

DOCX files are supported

The older .doc format is not accepted here. Open a legacy document in a compatible editor and save a DOCX copy first. Renaming the extension does not convert the file.

Embedded and linked images are different

An embedded picture is stored in the document package. A linked picture may only point to another location and may not be recoverable from the uploaded file. Text boxes, shapes, and charts are not necessarily stored as standalone images.

Document edits can affect the source image

Cropping and effects in Word may describe how to display an underlying picture. An extracted asset can differ from its appearance on the page. Check the output before reusing it.

Questions about this workflow

Can I upload a .doc file?

No. This page accepts DOCX. Save a DOCX copy in Word or another compatible editor before uploading.

Will extraction recreate the page layout?

No. It returns images, not a reproduction of the document pages or their formatting.

Can I recover a picture that was already compressed?

You can recover the stored asset where supported, but extraction cannot restore detail removed before the document was saved.

Credits, processing, and next steps

Guests have a shared allowance of 5 credits per UTC day: a webpage costs 2 credits and a document costs 1. Account plans have their own allowances. Documents are uploaded for server processing; see the retention policy before uploading sensitive material.
